To be eligible, work entered into The Hashtag Sports Awards must have been live between January 1, 2018 - April 1, 2019. Incomplete or spec work is not eligible.
Entrants must submit all required information and complete payment in order for entries to become eligible for judging.
All entries require basic information about the entrant organization, engagement objectives and results, and the samples of the work (for categories related to content or campaigns). We also require all entrants to submit an image (minimum 2400 x 1200 pixels) representing the entry to be used in our gallery, website, and/or across promotional materials, in the case of finalists.
Payment can be made securely by credit card using our online entry portal. The same project may be entered in multiple categories, but each entry requires a separate entry fee. Multiple entries are discounted and entry fees are non-refundable. Withdrawn entries will not be refunded (even if withdrawn by Hashtag Sports due to failure to meet entry criteria). There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit or the number of categories you may enter.
Entries for the “Athletes & Creators” categories do not require payment and are provided by Hashtag Sports staff and a Nominating Committee comprised of media and press.
Recipients of Hashtag Sports Awards are recognized for excellence in engagement of fans and consumers through sports content, campaigns, or experiences. Winners are selected by the Engagement Academy for Sports & Entertainment, a diverse judging panel comprised of brand CMOs, sports marketers, media executives, athletes and creators.
Each judge was hand-selected by Hashtag Sports for their expertise in engagement and understanding of the innovation required to serve current and future generations of fans.
For the purpose of judging, entries must exhibit distinction in the following areas:
Judges will be assigned to one or more categories in their area of expertise. An initial round of pass/fail review will be followed by a final round of judging in order to review/score remaining entries and determine finalists as well as winners.
In the event a judge (or their client) has submitted work to a category or has a conflict, the judge must abstain from scoring all entries in said category.
Public voting will not have any influence on which organizations entries are selected as winners and finalists, except for within the Athletes & Creators categories as described below.
Finalists within the Athletes & Creators categories will also be open to the public for voting. These scores will then be combined with the judges scores in a weighted average to determine the winner for each category, in the same manner as the other categories. Fans will represent no more than 10% of the vote for each category.
Fan voting on entries will open on March 5th, 2019 at 12:00 PM EST and close on March 29th, 2019 at 11:59 PM EST.
Finalists are welcome to campaign by encouraging fans and followers to vote for them.
Fan can vote for each entry once per day, per category the entry is entered in, by clicking “Vote” on the Hashtag Sports Awards website and proceeding to post a tweet that includes the category hashtag, the finalist's hashtag, and the awards show hashtag. Users can also vote by posting directly on Twitter or posting a retweet containing the category hashtag, the finalist's hashtag, and the awards show hashtag.
The Hashtag Sports Awards use algorithms to automatically disqualify voting activity that appears to be suspicious or intended to game the system. Suspicious accounts include ones that use bots, scripts, issue repetitive automatic votes, appear to have been created specifically for Hashtag Sports Awards voting, or exhibit other characteristics and behavior that violate the spirit of the awards. A final vote audit will occur after the voting period ends.
The average score submitted by the judges will determine winners and finalists for each category. Winners will only be chosen for categories with entries of merit, and only one entry may be deemed the winner for each category. Some categories may not have winners or may not be announced at the live awards show depending on breadth and quality of entries in the sole discretion of Hashtag Sports.
If an entry wins an award, the manner and details of announcing that finalist/winner and award is strictly within the discretion of the Hashtag Sports Awards. The entrant understands that all awards may not be given or publicized in the same manner and some may be presented in a live show and others may not.
The judges’ decision is final, and neither Hashtag Sports nor the judges will enter into any correspondence about them.
Finalists will be notified and announced in May. Winners will be revealed at the live show on June 25, 2019 in New York City.
The organization with the most wins and/or highest rating across all categories will be awarded our most prestigious award, Outstanding Achievement in Overall Engagement. All entrants who submit to two (2) or more categories will be eligible. No additional entry fee is required for this category.
