How Does This Individual Represent “Excellence in Engagement”?

After overcoming his own battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008, Anthony Rizzo set out to strike out cancer from existence. The Chicago Cubs first baseman started the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation to give back to people fighting the disease and benefit cancer research. In 2017, the Foundation made a $3.5 million donation, nearly half of Rizzo’s salary, to Lurie’s Children Hospital in Chicago. Most recently, Rizzo returned to his high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, after tragedy struck campus to not only offer his condolences but also to share powerful words and praise student activists for their response. He continued his support by taking time in the midst of spring training to attend the March For Our Lives. A year later, Rizzo’s profile picture on Twitter continues to rep his alma mater.
